Custom Seal Design

Colonial Seal Company has a team of experienced engineers to help you with both custom and standard seal design or redesign. We use the STAMP guideline method to offer appropriate static or dynamic seal recommendations. We provide product recommendations based on customer information. Therefore, it is important to test your application and recommended products before making a final selection.

We use SolidWorks 3D CAD to create a seal design and select the proper profile and lip material based on customer performance parameters.

Our Lab Manager has a Masters in Mechanical Engineering and several years of experience running labs and doing both standardized and custom testing. This research and testing of metals, elastomers (NBR, EPDM, PTFE, FKM primarily), and thermoplastics lead to best-suited materials for the application. The machine we built for this project can test for all kinds of different things like temperature, lubricant viscosity, and rotation speed. This can help reduce the chances of the seal failing early.
